A 37-year-old man in Kano takes his own life following his ex-wife's remarriage

A 37-year-old man has tragically taken his own life on Danmusa Street in Gadon Kaya, Kano State, reportedly devastated after discovering that his ex-wife had remarried.

Reports reveal that the deceased was a security guard at Prestige International College on Danmusa Street in Gadon Kaya, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.

The decision to end his life came shortly after learning about his ex-wife's remarriage.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Hussaini Gumel, confirmed that the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, within the premises of Prestige International College.

Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki raised the alarm, reporting that the man was found lifeless, having hanged himself with a rope in one of the college’s classrooms.

Upon receiving the report, a team of policemen from the Gwale Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly responded to the scene.

They took immediate action, forcibly unlocking the classroom door, cutting the rope, and rushing the man’s body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital for medical attention.

Unfortunately, a medical doctor at the hospital confirmed his death.

In accordance with customary procedures, the body of the deceased was released to his grieving family for burial rites.
