Ghana faced a disappointing night, surrendering a 2-0 lead to draw with Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations.

At Stade Alassane Ouattara, the Black Stars took an early lead in the Monday encounter, courtesy of Jordan Ayew, who showcased his prowess in the English topflight. The Crystal Palace forward scored from the penalty spot within the opening 15 minutes and later doubled the lead in the second half, again from the penalty spot.

Despite the promising start for Ghanaians, Mozambique staged a dramatic comeback in stoppage time, scoring twice within four minutes, causing dismay for the West African nation.

The outcome led to Ghana swapping places with Egypt, as the Pharaohs leapfrogged by just one point to secure qualification in Group B.

Egypt faced their own challenges, relinquishing their lead against group leaders Cape Verde, who mounted a comeback in stoppage time. However, the Blue Sharks fought back, securing a last-minute equalizer through Bryan Teixeira and extending their unbeaten run in the group stage of the tournament.
