Mr Charles Idahosa, a stakeholder in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, raised concerns on Tuesday, accusing certain national party officers, who defected from the All Progressives Congress, of acting as mercenaries with the intent to sell the soul of the PDP in Edo State to the highest bidder.

Idahosa, former political adviser to the Adams Oshiomhole administration, expressed these sentiments at a stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the party’s national vice chairman, Chief Dan Orbih. He warned that without corrective measures, the party might face demise in the state.

“PDP may die in Edo if party members don’t do the right things” — Idahosa Charles Idahosa

Amid controversies surrounding the recent election of ward ad-hoc delegates, Idahosa emphasized that unresolved issues raised by nine aspirants could render the PDP ineffective and buried in the state.

With nine of the 10 governorship aspirants present at the stakeholders’ meeting, Idahosa alleged that the crisis in the party was fueled by conspiracies orchestrated by PDP officials from core northern states currently under APC control. These officials, having failed to deliver their states to the PDP, were now seeking to exploit the situation in Edo State.

In a statement from the Orbih Media Office, the PDP leader expressed, “That’s exactly what is happening. He is fighting the leadership of the legacy, and all our members are running away and collecting SSAs. I want to make a prediction, and I am directing this to our national vice-chairman to carry it to the NWC.

“The people who are doing whatever they are doing are from Yobe, Sokoto, all Northern states; they will collect what they want to collect and let all of us die here. They don’t care because they are not from here. But I want him to carry this message.

“I, Charles Idahosa, if they don’t do the right thing and correct this anomaly, PDP is dead in Edo State.”
