Faleye Olushola, the Special Aide to the late Co-founder and Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, recounts the harrowing experience of miraculously escaping death in a helicopter crash on Friday night.

The tragic incident, reported by Gistreel on Saturday, claimed the lives of his boss, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, Dr. Wigwe's wife, Chizoba, and their son.

Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, along with his family, lost their lives in the helicopter crash that occurred on Friday night in the United States.

However, amidst the tragedy, Faleye Olushola, listed on the manifest, miraculously survived the crash.

As reported by ThisDay, Faleye Olushola initially flew with Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his family, and former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo, from London, UK, to Palm Spring, California, US.

However, upon reaching Palm Springs, Faleye Olushola chose not to board the helicopter bound for Boulder City in Nevada, citing adverse weather conditions and his reluctance to travel by helicopter at night.

Opting for the safer alternative of traveling by road, Olushola narrowly escaped the air disaster that claimed the lives of four others.

Meanwhile, Access Bank Plc released a statement expressing a lack of "specific information" regarding the death of the Group CEO, Herbert Wigwe, in the helicopter crash near the Nevada border, United States.

The bank's statement reads:

“We have received numerous inquiries concerning an airplane crash in the USA.

“Presently, we lack specific information; however, we are actively collaborating with US authorities who will furnish updates.

“Your understanding and support are valued, and we commit to keeping you informed promptly as we receive updates on the situation.”
