A young Nigerian man shares the story of ending his relationship with a girlfriend who, despite the house he built, refused to live with him and made excessive demands.

Social media user DemoofUK took to microblogging platform X to narrate a relationship that started well but ended poorly.

The man explained that he had already constructed his house before meeting the lady, but she declined to live with him due to the distance to her shop.

To accommodate her preferences, he rented an apartment for her. However, this move led to more unrealistic demands.

As if that wasn't enough, she continued making demands without contributing to the relationship, prompting the breakup.

Why I dumped my girlfriend who refused to live in the house I built

Feels like we are really meeting the same set of women. I had this one that didn’t wanna stay in the house I built cos of the location. After so many back & forth, I agreed we would go & rent in her preferred location only if she would contribute to rent yearly.

She declined& said if I can’t foot everything, then we can’t get married to each other. Oh yh! This is one of the reasons why I built my own place as soon as I started making money.

To avoid payin rent when that money could go to other investments. Cos I’m someone that likes to please his gf in a relationship, just not to break things up over situations we could have handled better.

I agreed to foot the whole rent. I asked her what happens when we start having kids? Would you contribute to their school fees & other misc? She declined. And went on to use her father as an example on how he does everything in the house.

That is the kind of man I want, she said. Lmao that sort of motivated me a bit. But the father wasn’t even my agemate before he was able to start footing these things. I agreed to that as well. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when she said I would also be responsible for her shop which was in the heart of Lagos where she pays about 1.5M at the time.

I declined. “No fucking way!”. As this was getting beyond what I could afford that period. Out of ‘understanding bf’. I later agreed but gave a reasonable solution. Let’s find a good-sized shop that doesn’t cost up to that amount. It's just about putting your sewing machines 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Here comes the stupidest analogy I have ever heard in my life. “God forbid, its like moving from a Gwagon to a Toyota”, She said. At that point, I knew this wasn’t for me. Before you say she did all of these cos she didn’t love me. Lol stop. We were at that settling phase. Met her parents.

She was just a spoilt rich kid that her dad put everything in place for her/them. Most of the reason why I kept accepting her demands. But she got carried away by that lifestyle & forgot that she also needs to build her own home & start somewhere. It was when I got out of the relationship I started thinking about how this girl wasn’t even worth my efforts. Unfaithful, academically poor, lack boundaries, unsmart.

But she gave me the best sex ever. 😭 another reason I kept holding on, like “Are you really gonna let this throat goat go? This freak that can split & bend & ready to make steamy love at anywhere we find ourselves? Someone else will be enjoying everything, You may never meet..someone compatible”. We were sexually compatible.

But marriage is beyond that. You gotta be with someone that loves, cares & supports you. Someone that brings something important to the table & not just good sex & nice baddie body. The dating market is crazy. Yall be safe 10/10.”
