Mr Eazi unveils the origin of 'Zagadat' catchphrase and commends 2Face and Beenie Man

Renowned singer and entrepreneur, Mr Eazi, provides insights into the genesis of his ‘Zagadat’ catchphrase, attributing inspiration to the legendary singer, 2BABA (formerly 2Face), and Jamaican dancehall star, Beenie Man.

He reveals that his catchphrase “Zagadat” was influenced by lyrics from 2Face’s ‘Nfana Ibaga’ remix featuring Beenie Man.

During an interview with Capital Xtra, UK, Mr Eazi clarifies that he couldn’t face copyright issues with the slang because he didn’t utter it in the same manner as presented in the song.

In his words;

“Big shout out to Beenie Man. Beenie Man and 2Face. I got my catchphrase ‘Zagadat’ from their song ‘Nfana Ibaga’ remix. From the part, ‘And the Lord say let there be light. Zagazaga za.’ That’s where it’s from, bro.

“I don’t have to give them royalties because I said, ‘Zagadat.’ I didn’t say, Zagagaza za.”
