Netflix has unleashed an explosive new trailer for Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire," slated for a limited one-week theatrical release on Dec. 15, followed by a wide streaming debut on Netflix on Dec. 22.
In this epic space adventure, Snyder assembles a stellar cast featuring Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, and Cary Elwes. The narrative follows a young woman on the galactic fringes, tasked with rallying a group of warriors to thwart an impending invasion by a tyrant. Snyder disclosed to Total Film that "Rebel Moon" shares the same universe as his Netflix film "Army of the Dead," with one set in outer space and the other in apocalyptic Las Vegas.
While "Army of the Dead" had a vast, untapped mythology, Snyder mentioned a character from "Rebel Moon" making an appearance in the "Army of the Dead" animated series. Originally a sprawling 172-page script, the film was divided into two parts, each with a director's cut for mature audiences.
Before its Netflix debut, "Rebel Moon" will grace theaters in select cities, including Los Angeles (Egyptian Theatre), New York City (Paris Theater), Toronto (TIFF Bell Lightbox), and London (Prince Charles Cinema). Netflix's ownership of the Paris Theater and the Egyptian Theatre adds to the anticipation.
