The competition for the prestigious award was intense, featuring strong contenders like Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi and Egyptian striker Mohammed Salah, who both made it to the final three.

On the women’s front, Asisat Oshoala added another feather to her cap by securing the CAF Women’s Player of the Year for an unprecedented sixth time.

Oshoala played a pivotal role in Barcelona women’s Champions League triumph last season, finishing as the club’s top scorer with an impressive tally of 27 goals across all competitions.

The ceremony also celebrated the Super Falcons as the Best Team of the Year, and Chiamaka Nnadozie emerged as the Best Goalkeeper of the Year.

Nigeria’s double triumph in the CAF Awards reflects the nation’s football prowess, acknowledging the outstanding achievements of both male and female footballers on the continental stage.
