Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced his concerns, alleging that prestigious European football awards like the Ballon d’Or and FIFA Best are gradually losing credibility.

Ronaldo, who clinched the Best Middle East Player and the Fans Favourite Player awards at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Friday, raised doubts about Lionel Messi being the right candidate for these coveted prizes.

Following the ceremony at Atlantis, the former Real Madrid star expressed, “Ballon d’Or and The Best are losing credibility.

“It’s not to say that Messi didn’t deserve it, or Haaland or even Mbappé… but the numbers are there and the numbers don’t deceive. You’ve to consider the entire season.

“The numbers are facts,” Ronaldo emphasized in his conversation with Record.

Reflecting on his record-breaking goal at Al Nassr, the Portuguese star added, “If you go back and see what happened at Manchester United and the national team, people actually considered me lost.

“But the truth is that I focused and had a great period at Al Nassr, that’s why I scored 54 goals.”
