Birmingham City has officially appointed Tony Mowbray as their new manager, succeeding the recently sacked Premier League legend Wayne Rooney.

The Championship club sacked Rooney last week after a disappointing run of two wins from 15 games, resulting in a drop to the 20th position in the English second division league. Rooney had taken over from John Eustace when Birmingham were in the 6th position.

Tony Mowbray expressed his excitement about the new challenge, stating, “I am excited to be joining Birmingham City at this time. I can’t wait to get back on the training pitch and start working with this talented group of players.” He emphasized his focus on rebuilding the team’s confidence, achieving positive results, and creating a squad that the fans can rally behind.

Mowbray, with previous managerial roles at West Brom, Middlesbrough, and Blackburn Rovers, was recently sacked by Sunderland earlier in the season. Tom Wagner, the co-owner and Chairman of Birmingham City, praised Mowbray as the standout candidate for the managerial position, citing his deep understanding of the game and shared ambition for the club’s success. Wagner expressed confidence in the new manager’s ability to bring stability to the club.
