Nigerian lady sparks online discussion as she calls out her mother-in-law for feeding her newborn baby pineapple.
The new mother took to her Tiktok page, @shelton.family, to express her dissatisfaction with her mother-in-law's actions.
During the traditional postpartum support known as Omugwo, her mother-in-law visited to assist her after giving birth. However, just two weeks later, she discovered her mother-in-law attempting to feed the newborn pineapple.
Despite warning about the potential harm to the baby's immune system, her mother-in-law got upset, packed her belongings, and left their home.
Following her departure, the mother-in-law started contacting other family members, accusing her daughter-in-law of disrespect.
The lady, acknowledging the strained relationship with her mother-in-law, sought validation on whether she was wrong for protecting her baby. She mentioned her husband supported her, affirming her stance.
Concluding the video, she advised women dealing with challenging mother-in-laws not to go out of their way to impress them, emphasizing that despite efforts, animosity might persist.
