24 Nigerian artists have now passed 1 billion streams on Spotify across all credits, according to a list Tooxclusive published on October 12, 2026. The milestone sits in the catalogue of Adekunle Gold, who is the newest entry on it at exactly 1.00 billion streams. The ranking is a chart story rather than a single song, so there are no credits to cite for one track.
What the list shows is how much of the global Afrobeats story runs through Nigeria. The page frames the achievement as evidence of the worldwide influence of Afrobeats and African music, and the artists on it range across Afrobeats, R&B and street-pop lanes. Because the totals cover all credits, they include features and guest appearances as well as lead releases. I have kept to the figures as reported and have not added claims about the listening habits behind them.
At the top, Wizkid leads with 11.91 billion streams, followed by Burna Boy at 11.19 billion. Rema has 6.8 billion, Tems 6.38 billion, Asake 4.5 billion, Ayra Starr 4.36 billion and Davido 4.22 billion. Further down, Fireboy DML is 10th with 2.75 billion, Victony is 16th with 1.59 billion, FOLA is 22nd with 1.04 billion, Joeboy is 23rd with 1.01 billion and Adekunle Gold is 24th. The count is as reported by Tooxclusive, which names no label or release because none applies here.
For Adekunle Gold, the milestone comes after a catalogue that has moved between pop and traditional influences. Afro Pop Vol. 1 and Catch Me If You Can sit alongside Fuji Xtra, and in 2025 he recorded Fuji Orchestra live from the Royal Festival Hall in London with the Guildhall Session Orchestra. Your site also reports that he has five nominations at the 2026 Headies and is set to make history at the Blue Note Jazz Fest London. The previous edition of this ranking, “The Billion Club,” counted 23 Nigerian artists, so his arrival is what takes the total to 24.
The figures come from Nigeria’s streaming scene, and the page says more artists are closing in on the milestone, so the list is expected to keep growing in the months ahead.
