Nigerian singer Victony has put his single “Slick” forward for Grammy consideration in three major categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance. The submissions, reported on October 13, 2026, are for the 2027 Grammy Awards, and nominations are scheduled to be announced on November 16. A submission is not a nomination, so this marks the start of the process rather than a result. His album STARLIFE was also submitted, for Album of the Year and Best Global Music Album.
Tooxclusive describes Victony as known for a blend of Afrobeats, soulful melodies and contemporary influences, and the song is listed as Afrobeats. On the credits, “Slick” was released in July 2026 and is produced by Ozedikus and Dera The Boy, according to its Audiomack listing. On October 16, Victony released a remix of the song featuring American stars Don Toliver and Summer Walker, adding a new international chapter to the song’s run.

Against that history, “Slick” stands out as his first solo No. 1 on Nigeria’s Official Top 100, a spot it held for three consecutive weeks. It reached No. 2 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and held that position for three straight weeks, and Tooxclusive has reported it extending its UK Afrobeats chart reign. STARLIFE itself debuted at No. 20 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, per the same site.
